The Central of Binh Thuan is 200km far away from Ho Chi Minh city, 250km from Nha Trang, passed through by the National Highway 1A, North-South railway to connect Binh Thuan to other southern and northern provinces, the National Highway 28 connects Phan Thiet to southern highland provinces, the National Highway 55 connects to tourism and petroleum services central of Vung Tau. Binh Thuan consists of 10 administrative units: Phan Thiet city, Lagi town, districts of Tuy Phong, Bac Binh, Ham Thuan Bac, Ham Thuan Nam, Ham Tan, Tanh Linh, Duc Linh and island district of Phu Quy.
Bac Binh is located in the northeast area of Binh Thuan, the Central of the district is Cho Lau township, 68km far away from Phan Thiet, the natural area of the district is 182,533 ha, with 37km of the National highway 1A, 40km of the North-South railway, and 38 km of coastal length. Bac Binh consists of 18 administrative units, consisting of 2 townships, and 16 communes.
Hoa Thang commune locates in the south of Bac Binh, adjacent to the sea. The natural area of the commune is 23,653 ha, and the population in 2010 was 7,152 persons. Hoa Thang is the commune with lowest density compared with other communes of the district.
Topography and geology The project area is made of sandy and low hilly regions. Small and narrow coastal plain spreads in directions from northeast to southwest.
Climate and Weather Bình Thuan locates in the most dry and drought area of the country, in monsoon tropical zone with much sunshine and wind. The average temperature is around 26.50C ÷ 27.50C. There are 2 distinct seasons, the rainy season lasts from May to November, the dry season lasts from November to April next year. The area little affected by storm or typhoon. Annual average rainfall is measured about 800mm ÷ 1.600mm, lower than the average rainfall of the whole country. The annual average humidity is around 79 ÷ 81%. Main wind direction: North – Northeast (from November to April next year) and West – Southwest (from May to October). Average wind speed at 12m height is 2.3m ÷ 3.8m/s, annual average of 3.1m/s. |
